Beans and Wieners Waikiki

This is a random recipe I found in a cookbook that was put together by parishioners from my mother-in-law's church. The recipe was pretty basic, and I altered some of the ingredients to give the meal a perfect blend of sweet and savory. I made this at the perfect time too, it just snowed here in Michigan and this warmed us right up! But next week will be in the 70's. 🤦‍♀️

 2 tbsp butter
 1 onionmedium, diced
 1 pepperany color, diced
 6 hot dogssliced
20 oz can of pineapple tidbitssave 1/4 cup of the juice
  cup ketchup
 1 tbsp soy sauce
 1 tbsp vinegar
  cup brown sugarpacked
28 oz can of baked beansI like using maple and cured bacon - it gives the dish a sweeter flavor

This is another recipe I used my Ninja slow cooker for, but you can also use a stock pot as well. Melt the butter on medium heat and add the hot dog slices and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

2

Add the pepper, onion, and pineapple tidbits and simmer for another 5 minutes.

3

While the food is simmering, mix ketchup, reserved pineapple juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, and vinegar together in a small bowl.

4

Add ketchup mix and baked beans to pot and stir. Cover pot with lid and turn heat down if needed so mix is gently bubbling. Allow mix to cook for about 20 minutes, or until the mix has thickened.
